Mostly good, some minor points

I opened a Rollover IRA and funded it with a transfer. The transfer bonus was a nice incentive. The E*TRADE Web platform is pretty solid for managing everything, and I appreciate the market research tools they offer. My only minor issue was that it took a bit longer than I expected for the funds to fully settle after the transfer, about 7 business days. Customer service was helpful when I called, but it would be good if the estimated transfer time was clearer upfront. Still, a good experience overall.

Their standard options contract fee is 65 cents, but if you're an active trader (30+ trades per quarter), it drops to 50 cents. So it depends on your volume.

It's pretty standard, maybe a bit higher than some of the newer apps, but you get more tools. They do have fee reductions for active traders though.

I used Core Portfolios for a while. It's pretty hands-off. Sometimes they have promos where the advisory fee is waived for a period if you deposit enough.

For a basic brokerage, I don't think there's a hard minimum to just open it, but you'll need funds to actually buy anything. For some of the premium features or bonuses, there are minimums.

Totally. I started with them a couple years ago. The E*TRADE Web platform is pretty straightforward for beginners. Power E*TRADE is more for advanced stuff.

Both are solid. E*TRADE has the Power E*TRADE platform which is great for more active traders. Schwab's got a huge branch network. It really comes down to what you prioritize.

I've used both. Schwab's customer service felt a tiny bit more personal, but E*TRADE's mobile app and tools feel a bit more modern to me. They're pretty similar in offerings though.
